Flamingos at dusk — example bird mod

Sample mod - Flamingos at dusk is on the Steam Workshop. Subscribe to it on the Steam Workshop (Options → Mods → Workshop), then restart Torreta. Birds are scenery, so this mod keeps the vanilla profile.

At dusk and at night, skeins of 6–16 Greater Flamingos cross the arena high up in a V, pink with black flight feathers, necks stretched out and legs trailing. The mod also makes sandgrouse flocks larger, takes the cranes out of the night sky and raises the arrival rate by 30%.

Edit it

  • birds.json: the flamingo's flight, flock and hours, and the two vanilla retunes. Every field is described in ../BIRDS.md.
  • models.json: maps the new Birds/Flamingo key to the GLB.
  • Models/Flamingo.glb: self-contained, one mesh with vertex-coloured plumage, the BirdRig UV map and the ShoulderL/R and WristL/R hinge empties.
  • Source/Flamingo.blend: the editable model (Blender 5.1).

tools/mods/build_bird_example.py in the repository rebuilds the GLB and the Blender file from the stock bird builder; running it replaces manual edits.
